I've advised business owners. I've also been one.

Since 2022 I've bought, run and sold businesses across roofing, HVAC, manufacturing, software and accounting. That includes buying a software company out of an Assignment for the Benefit of Creditors. Along the way my companies have created or preserved 120 to 150 jobs.

Before that, I spent 13 years at PwC, rising to Director, including 10 years in turnaround and restructuring. I led or played key roles on significant projects, including the restructuring of a bank in South Africa and a $2 billion cross-border distressed M&A deal. I also stepped in as interim CFO of a $150 million division of an international business.

The disciplines that work on a $2 billion deal work in a $5 million owner-led business too: get the facts straight, protect cash, deal honestly with the people involved and make the hard calls early. The difference now is that I've also been the owner making those calls.
